The history of Arcadia started in 1993 — that was uneasy time in Russia, when everything changed and most developers had no or almost no experience in working with foreign partners. Since then, Arcadia grew from 5 to 160+ employees and became one of the largest offshore software developers.
Nowadays, Arcadia continues its successful development — adopting newest development technologies, improving marketing strategy, finding new employees and raising qualification of current staff, looking for new partners and customers — to keep pace with rapidly evolving IT-outsourcing market.
1993, 9 March — Arcadia founded
Arcadia, Inc. was founded by Arcady Khotin, who has been company CEO through all company history.
Bennet-Tec Information Systems, Inc. (US) was the 1st international customer of Arcadia. Since then, collaboration of Arcadia and Bennet-Tec grew into a trust relationship.
1996 — foundation of Planet Software Inc.
Planet Software Inc. (Gainesville, Florida) was created to represent Arcadia's interests in the US and to facilitate relationships with US customers.
1998 — Sergei Baklan took positions of managing director
Having a remarkable management experience in global corporations (Klimov Corporation, Russian department of Pratt & Whitney) Sergei transformed Arcadia from a development laboratory to a strong commercial software development organization.
1999 — foundation of Fort-Ross consortium
Arcadia, along with other 9 leading Russian software developers, founded a software consortium — Fort-Ross. Arcady Khotin took position of vice-president in the consortium.
2000 — foundation of IT recruitment agency «Arcadia++»
2000 — start of collaboration with the SPbSU ITMO
This collaboration includes training programs for the students of the St. Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (SPbSU ITMO, former LITMO) and summer practice for students. The most talented young specialists get an opportunity to join Arcadia's team.
2002 — foundation of Ardin Software Oy
Located in Vantaa, Finland, Ardin Software was created to represent Arcadia in Scandinavia, which had become a key market for Arcadia.
2002 — start of collaboration with the St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University
Every year Arcadia provides training programs for the students; the best ones get perspective job offers.
2003 — ISO 9001:2000 certification
The certificate expired in 2006, but Arcadia still adheres to the ISO quality standards.
2004 — foundation of «Russoft»
Non-commercial partnership “Russoft” started as a result of merger of “Fort-Ross” consortium and the National Software Development Association (NSDA).
2004 — foundation of Scandinavian Group
Initiated by Arcadia, Inc., Scandinavian Group united over 30 independent Russian IT-vendors interested in Scandinavian market. The coordinators of the Group are located in Helsinki, Finland and St. Petersburg, Russia. ScG was officially presented at Russian Software Outsourcing Summit 2004 in St. Petersburg. The initiator of ScG is Arcadia, Inc.
2005 — start of "Software testing" course in SPbSU ITMO
Arcadia initiated new training program for quality assuarance engineers in the St. Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (SPbSU ITMO).

2006 June — first MobileMonday in St. Petersburg
Mobile Monday is an informal network of ICT companies which helps mobile industry specialists to share their experience. Being originally founded in Helsinki, Finland in 2000, MoMo takes place every month in different parts of the world. The founder and initiator of this event in Russia is Arcady Khotin. Arcadia sponsors of MoMo in St. Petersburg.
