Advantages of Agile methodologies can be successfully combined with the benefits of nearshore software development — this fact has been proved by multiple successful projects using this smart combination. This was the main idea of the seminar conducted by Arcadia, Inc. and Prisma Consulting in collaboration with Arcadia's long-term clients — F-Secure and Aditro. The event was aimed at business owners, CEOs, CTOs and CIOs looking for new opportunities for optimizing their software development processes.
During the seminar representatives of developer teams, clients and project managers told about different aspects of their real experience in Agile nearshoring — how it was organized, what problems were solved and how the success and overall outcome was measured. Here are main findings:
- Nowadays, in rapidly changing business environment, flexibility, adaptability, quality and performance are the main requirements to software development — especially in sensitive business areas like accounting and data security. One of the best answers to this challenge is Agile family of methodologies;
- Agile as very effective software development can be combined with customers’ more traditional project management methods like PMBOK and Prince2;
- While Agile methodologies allow to adapt easily to changing requirements, nearshoring gives more flexibility in work-loads, team sizes and costs of development;
- Agile methodologies leave vast space for individual adaptation and optimization — and together with our customers we found several ways of adapting Agile methods to work processes of distributed teams;
- Close long-term relationship with a nearshoring service provider allows our clients to start new projects fast, thus allowing to react timely to urgent needs of business;
- Adaptability of Agile and flexibility of nearshoring together give a great mix of benefits for new application development, for re-engineering legacy software and for maintenance of constantly evolving applications.
Speakers at the seminar presented cases based on real projects realized using Agile nearshoring. All participants of the seminar enjoyed positive atmosphere, interactive communications and gained valuable knowledge to use in further work.
