Key problems
Bibliographical Catalog is a software application designed for collecting bibliographical records of Pushkin Department as well as maintaining, retrieving and managing these data. The previous version of Bibliographical Catalog application was developed using FoxPro language and worked only on DOS operation system.
The tasks of the project included:
- To create a Windows-based client/server application that works with Microsoft SQL Server (2000, 2005);
- To implement additional functionality, usability improvements.
Solution
Arcadia’s team developed and implemented a new solution according to customer’s specifications. The new application is fully compatible with up-to-date operation systems (Windows Vista).
Besides, Arcadia’s team implemented a Web-part which gives the users of official site of Museum of Russian Literature a possibility to find information about bibliographical records dedicated to Pushkin.
Development tools
- Microsoft Windows Vista SP1, Windows XP SP3, used to implement and test Bibliographical Catalog’s possibility to work in that operating systems environment;
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 used as development platform for the application;
- MS Source Safe 6.0 SP5 used as Version Control System;
- SQL Server 2005 Express Edition used as the database servers
- Bugzilla used as bug tracking system
