Description
The client had a web-based custom Electronic Document Management (EDM) system, wiseSuite. The system served internal business processes according to the client's main business activity — title insurance. According to client's requirements, Arcadian team developed a set of desktop applications with access to the EDM database through SOAP web service. The set includes:
- wiseScan: allows users to scan documents directly into the document repositories
- wiseSave: an application allowing the users to save documents directly from user's workstation into the wiseSuite document repositories.
- wisePrint: allows users to print documents directly from applications into the document repositories
- wiseView: allows users to view and manage all their documents in the document repositories from user's desktop
- wiseWatch: watch upto 20 orders for new documents or notes
- wiseReader: a “Ubiquitous Document Viewer” leveraging Technology that allows high quality displaying of documents without using their “native” applications. It enables file viewing, printing, and copy/paste functionality for more than 390 document formats.
In addition to standalone applications, Arcadia's team developed a number of add-ons and plug-ins for MS Office and Adobe Acrobat for facilitating work with the Document Management system from these applications, eg:
- wiseView Package: aadd-on to SoftPro Select, a real estate closing, title and escrow product suite used in the company
- wiseOutlook: a custom “client-side” MS Outlook folder allowing the user to copy/move any number of emails (including attachments) directly into existing virtual folders or virtual inboxes
- wiseSave Office: an MS Office add-on allowing the users to save documents directly from user's workstation into the wiseSuite document repositories.
- wiseParser Office, wiseParser Adobe: these add-ons allow users to create hyperlinks in MS Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat documents that will directly retrieve any document stored in the wiseSuite document repositories.
Further Arcadia's tasks include:
- improving user interface of the desktop application (eg: implementation of Ribbon menu similar to MS Office 2007 in several applications)
- making applications compatible with MS Windows Vista and MS Windows 7
- providing synchronization of the desktop application with updates on the client's web portal
- regular updates of all the add-ons and plug-ins after every release of new versions of MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.
