Arcadia's social activity is closely connected to company's integration into scientific and cultural society of Russia. Arcadia considers corporate responsibility a necessary condition for building stable relationships and trust between business and community.
Education
In 2005 Arcadia's specialists made a significant contribution to development of software quality assurance (testing) course for the 4th-year students of SPbSU ITMO. The reason for this measure was high demand for software testers along with low priority of this specialization in technical universities, which led to a deficit of testers in the market. During the course, Arcadia provides to ITMO technical resources and software products needed for practical work. After the lectures, the students apply their new knowledge in real work during their summer internship in Arcadia's office. The students who made good progress during internship at Arcadia, get an opportunity to join Arcadia's team — they can combine part-time work at Arcadia with full-time studies in the University.
Arcadia also participates in inter-university career fairs, open house days and other events organized by leading St. Petersburg institutes (Politechnical University, St. Petersburg State University and others).
Several times a year Arcadia hosts foreign student groups visiting St. Petersburg to get acquainted with Russian life, culture and business. Such participation in learning programs of foreign universities and student organizations — ESTIEM (Europe), Metropolia University (Finland), Cass Business School (UK), University of Texas (USA) and others — has already become a good tradition. The company management is confident that co-operation with foreign universities deepens and strengthens international business links and creates good image of Russian business abroad, as today’s students are future managers, specialists and businessmen.
Culture
Since 2004 Arcadia has been developing and maintaining the web-portal of the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkinskij Dom), Russian Academy of Science — one of the largest centers for storage and research of Russian cultural heritage. According to the terms of the grant agreement with FAPMC (the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications), Arcadia assumes a significant part of expenditures on the project.
Business community
The founder and CEO of Arcadia, Arcady Khotin, was also one of the founders of “Fort-Ross” consortium which united St. Petersburg offshore software development companies. In 2004, Fort-Ross merged with the Association of Russian software development companies, resulting in foundation of Non-Commercial partnership “RUSSOFT”, uniting the most powerful software developers of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Arcady Khotin held a vice-president position in “Fort-Ross” and at present is member of the board at “RUSSOFT”.
